Clinical studies show that clients have seen outstanding results in as little as four sessions when using our amazing device. A difference can be seen from the first session however with hair slowing down in growth rate and becoming finer and softer.

During your consultation, we will assess the areas to be treated and suitability for treatment. This means we will need a small amount of hair growth to be visible in order to assess the hair. We will then discuss with you what you’re looking to achieve, the number of treatments and intervals needed between sessions, before carrying out a patch test on the area using the laser device. All hairs will need to be shaved during this process thus allowing the laser energy to be absorbed deeper into the root of the hair.

Your first full treatment session can take place 7 days after your test patch has been completed. The best results are achieved with regular treatments due to the hair growth phases, therefore you will need to commit to a course of treatments to see satisfactory results. However you can book just one if you wish or pay as you go.

After each treatment, the hair growth will begin to slow down and it will usually take approximately 1-3 weeks for the hairs to fall out. At each session we can only ever target hairs in the ‘active growth’ stage and typically we would therefore be treating around 10-15% of the hairs at each individual session.

The hair follicles are damaged by heat, but the hairs will remain in the follicles immediately following treatment. The dead hairs will shed after 1-3 weeks as the epidermis renews. During this period the hairs will seem to ‘grow’ as they are pushed out by the new epidermis.

Aftercare advice and how to manage the area in between sessions, will be given to help you to achieve the very best results.

Laser hair removal is perfectly safe so other than protective glasses, no other special precautions are needed.

The skin may be red immediately after treatment and the hair follicles may be swollen and bumpy but this usually subsides within a few hours. Adverse reactions are rare but may include a small blister or temporary lightening or darkening of the skin. This is why we’ll carry out a patch test before commencing any treatment. The treatment is non-invasive so most clients experience no side-effects at all.

We can damage the hair follicles to achieve permanent hair ‘reduction’. Although any hairs that are successfully destroyed during your treatment will never return, laser hair reduction should not be classified as a ‘permanent removal’. This is because your skin contains dormant hair follicles, so it is possible for new hairs to appear during the growth cycle in the future (although these would be much finer than your original hairs). There are several other factors such as hormonal imbalances which can also affect the overall results. In these cases, maintenance treatments will be necessary in the future (approx. 1-2 sessions per year).

Treatment time varies depending upon the part of the body being treated. Typically, the face takes around 15 to 20 minutes, and full legs can take 1 to 2 hours.

At the Secret Studio, we treat almost every area of the body. The only exceptions to the list are under the eyebrows, inside the nostrils, over the top of the nipple area and inside the ears.

Most people are suitable for treatment. We will conduct a thorough clinical consultation (including a patch test) to ascertain if the treatment will be successful for you.

Typically, best results are achieved with clients who have fairer skin and dark hair. Our Motus AY can effectively treat all skin types I-IV and even very fine hair. Grey/white/red hair has no melanin so is not recommended for laser treatment.

The light emitted by the device is absorbed by melanin within the hair, and converted into heat energy damaging the hair follicle and preventing regrowth.
